| POWERS
AND FUNCTIONS OF THE BOARD |
The
powers and functions of the Board are elaborated
in RuIe-9 of the Rules of the Board, which in
nut shall is |

i) |
to
take steps to improve the genetic stock of animals
in the State. |
|
ii) |
to
take steps to preserve and multiply Murrah germplasni
and also take adequate steps to export it. |
|
iii) |
to
assist the department of Animal Husbandry &
Dairying in developing and maintaining infrastructure
or any other departmental activity, which the
Board may think. |
| SOURCE
OF FUNDING |
| The
Board receives grants, subsidies and financial
assistance from the State Government, Central
Government or any other source and it may raise
loans from Banks/International bodies/any other
financing agencies and generate funds by sale
of semen/embryos or by providing/generating
funds by sale of genetic material like frozen
semen/embryos and live breeding animals and
all such receipts shall be credited to the fund. |
| In
addition to this levy of fee on the export of
animals and imposition of cess on the licensed
capacity of a milk plant is also a source of
income to the Board. |
